Political Marketing -A new way of Politics

 The Concept

Political marketing is the process by which political candidates and ideas are directed at the voters in order to satisfy their political needs and thus gain their support for the candidate and ideas in question. A cursory comparison between marketing of goods and services, and marketing of political candidates would readily point up at least one common concept promotion. Clearly there is quite extensive use of media by the seller and the candidate for the purposes of informing, reminding, as well as changing attitudes and behavior. Possibly, such a comparison would also indicate that both marketing of goods and services, and marketing of political candidates utilize similar tools such as market research, and various statistical and computer techniques in studying the market. Although these points are essentially correct, they denote only a few of the similarities between marketing and political marketing.

Well there is so much in research to study in deep about political marketing but let us see some examples and understand political marketing from  Indian Context.
You can study in detailed research of poltical marketing at Detailed Research

In India political advertising started by the BJP government by launched an ad campaign on television. The 'India Shining' campaign that  marked the beginning of a new age of political advertising in India. It discusses in depth the political advertising strategy of the erstwhile NDA government and examines how the campaign was aimed as a tool to win votes. In the latest elections in India, the winning party was accused of using the principles of marketing. Both the major parties, Congress and the BJP had hired PR firms to manage their campaigns.
In India there is a full bundle of political parties and as well as bundle of examples of political marketing.
  • This concept came in more popularity when BJP in 2014 general elections used social networking as well as Hoardings for advertisements and campaign of party. All the others parties in India did the same and this concept is followed in each and every state of India.
  • This become more and more popular when Honorable PM of  Republic Of India Mr.Narendra Modi used social networking for showcasing work done by him and BJP led government. This forced all the parties of India to fight in this way.

But it took extreme speed recently where vidhan sabha elections are going on in opening month of 2017, specially in the state of Uttar pradesh and Punjab.Where parties like congress and samajwadi party took it to extreme heights.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav released a video of his working style from iside the UP CM's office and with his family. In an advertisent named "Uttar Pradesh mera parivar hai".

You can See video here-Akhilesh Yadav-"UP mera parivar hai"

Not only these advertisements. poltival marketing can also include-"The muft strategy"-
Giving things free for voting that party into power.
  • Promise of Distribution of free smartphones by Capt.Amarinder Singh Government if congress come to power in Punjab.Under an scheme called "Captain Smart Connect Scheme"
